NARC is contributing to the development of a global strategy to secure sustainable populations of the Asian Houbara Bustard (Chlamydotis macqueenii) throughout Middle-East and Central Asia, aiming at reconciling the tradition of Arab falconry with a sustainable use of natural resources. The main actions to achieve this objective are: - Conservation and management of existing Houbara populations and their habitat - Implementation of hunting regulation and eradication of poaching and illegal trade - Conservation breeding to preserve genetic diversity, and re-introduce or re-enforce populations into the wild
